VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We believe that everyone has something to offer to others. All of us can make a difference. At Journey, we say that no one "just does" anything, because everything we do to serve others is meaningful and valuable. These volunteer opportunities are also great ways to connect and get to know people at Journey. Browse through the different teams and ministry areas below. If you’re interested in learning more about any one of them, click the button below to fill out the interest form and we’ll have someone from that team follow up with you to answer any questions.
Here are some key ways that you can volunteer at Journey on an ongoing basis:
Journey Kids - Each Sunday we have environments for infants all the way through fifth grade to learn about God using Biblical lessons relevant for each age group. We provide the lessons and materials on a weekly basis, all you need to do is present it in your own unique style.
If you enjoy nurturing infants or assisting children with developing a strong spiritual foundation, leading or helping in one of our Journey Kids classes (Nursery, Toddlers, Pre-School, or Elementary) can be a great way for you to serve.
Journey Students - On Wednesday nights, students from 6th to 12th grade come together for their very own night just for them. We are always looking for passionate and excited adult volunteers to serve our middle school and high school students. We have our volunteers help with many different aspects of the service from organizing games, leading small group discussions, helping with music or A/V during service, and even sharing a message. We have a blast and we want you to be a part of it if you have a desire to serve this age group.
Production Team - A crucial element of our weekly services is the people behind the scenes preparing and producing the elements we all experience before, during, and after service. This team oversees the sound, video, and lighting production for our main services and special events. You’ll find them at the soundboard, controlling the media and slides for the music and message, setting the stage lighting, and running our live stream for those attending online. We have seasoned veterans as well as new learners on this team, there’s no previous experience necessary. Let us know what you’re interested in!
First Impressions Team - If you’re unsure what this team is, you’ll typically find them holding doors, giving directions, handing out programs, or serving coffee and donuts. These are the cheerful people that greet everyone and make them feel welcome on Sundays. This team includes greeters, ushers, coffee bar servers, and other hospitality roles. We pride ourselves on a warm and welcoming environment, so if you want to be on the frontlines of that effort, this is the team for you.
Journey Music Team - This might be fairly obvious, but if you play an instrument or sing, this is the team for you! Our musicians lead us on Sunday morning as well as join our students on Wednesday nights. Here’s a little more information about serving with us.
Journey Communications Team - We are always telling the community around us as well as the people who call Journey their home church about all the great stuff we have going on. We also desire to engage with people beyond those times when we have a specific service for them to attend. We do this through our website, email newsletters, mailers, social media, etc… From creative designers to witty wordsmiths, our communications team has a variety of opportunities to get involved. If you love to write, take photos, create graphics, or post on Instagram, we have a spot for you.
In addition to these ongoing volunteer opportunities, we regularly do events to reach out to and serve our community, such as the Special Egg Event, which is a HUGE Easter event for children with special needs and their families. Be on the lookout for opportunities to serve at one of these events.
